ICS Announces Boston UX

Company has experienced dramatic increase in requests for UX design services as more industries recognize and leverage its power

WALTHAM, MA — September 18, 2018 — Integrated Computer Solutions (ICS), creators of sophisticated embedded and touch-enabled devices, announces the launch of Boston UX, a user experience (UX) design consultancy that specializes in creating intuitive interface design for touchscreen and voice-powered smart devices and products, such as medical devices, industrial controls and IoT, and consumer devices, among others.

Boston UX was formed in response to ICS' escalating demand for UX design services, a significant trend in customer requests over the last three years. The trend was validated by Adobe, whose survey revealed that UX designers are now as in demand as software engineers and that 87% of the 500 design department heads surveyed said hiring more UX designers is the top priority for their organization. In addition, findings from national staffing firm Onward Search showed that UX designers are the #1 most sought after professionals in the creative space in 2018.

"While the web, smartphones and tablets have dominated UX design for some time, companies in industries from medical to manufacturing are recognizing the importance of providing a compelling user experience to foster greater customer engagement," said Peter Winston, founder and CEO of ICS. "In the medical device realm, usability is of paramount importance as it can mean life or death. Many of our medical customers are faced with stringent FDA regulatory requirements and they rely in part on well-designed UX to help them build superior products."

The Boston UX design team has deep knowledge of the engineering and business complexities that impact product development. Among those utilizing the firm's services are MilliporeSigma, Intel, Boston Engineering, Zoll Medical Corporation and Casenet.

A distinguished provider of population health and care management solutions for commercial and government plans, as well as providers, Casenet turned to Boston UX to visualize the next generation of its award-winning TruCare platform. Casenet has been recognized by the industry globally for innovation, client satisfaction and forward thinking as it transforms how health care is managed in order to deliver better outcomes at lower costs.

"Because our clients must manage vast amounts of information that is diverse and ever-changing, it is imperative that we provide them with tools to do so in a manner that is intuitive and designed to address their specific needs and nuances," said Margie Caughey, vice president, product management at Casenet. "To achieve this, we needed Boston UX designers to become deeply immersed in both our and our clients' worlds. The designers impressed us beyond expectations with their ability to do that, helping to create a solution that is both intuitive and scalable."
